Overview
The ET1243CW is an ET1543C transmitter fitted in a weatherproof case, along with an IPCOAX1 surge suppressor. This device sits at the remote side of an EtherStretch Lyte link and connects to the far end PoE-powered 10/100 Ethernet device. The ET1243CWS provides 10/100 Ethernet link extension of up to 500m over RG58 or RG6 coaxial cabling. The ET1243CWS communicates back to a multi-channel 8,16, or 24-channel receiver at the head end, both of which derive power from the Network PoE switch.
The ET1543CWS is normally sold along with the multi-channel ER8200C/ER16200/ER24200C, to match the PoE Switch capacity, one ET1543CWS per port. The ET1243CWS works differently from the ET15xx series in that both the ET1543CWS and receiver channel derive power by drawing it from the PoE link between the PoE switch and the far end device. This requires that the entire link from PoE switch thru the multi-channel receiver, coax, ET1243CWS, and the far-end device is complete before PoE negotiation will happen and power will come up. This design method maximizes the use of the PoE Switch for power and monitoring while achieving surge resistant, weatherproof, and economical 10/100 Ethernet extension over coax.
