Overview
The ER8200C is the smallest receiver in Nitek’s exciting EtherStretch Lyte family. The ER8200C is an 8-channel head end receiver, designed for Ethernet link extension over existing coaxial cabling. The ER8200C is similar to Nitek’s flagship ER8500C receiver in that it can extend 10/100 Ethernet to remote transmitters over up to 500m of RG58 or RG6 coaxial cabling. The ER8200C can be more cost-effective, however, because it is designed to work with commercially available PoE Ethernet Switches, and instead only contains a small 15V power supply, no internal web server, and no internal switch or aggregating LAN port. The EtherStretch Lyte system is designed to allow the Ethernet PoE Switch to handshake with the remote PoE devices through the local ER8200C receiver channel, ET1243C transmitter, and intervening cabling. Once the PoE comes up, the ER8200C channel and far-end transmitter also power up and begin link operation. The 15V supply is available for channels to operate without PoE power, but remote devices will have to be powered at the far end.
